They trust us

A large building is toured like a small one.

Size changes the logistics, not the experience. Visitors move from one pavilion to the next, go up a floor, step out into the courtyard and enter the neighbouring workshop, without changing links. We plan the scan over several days, often in the evening, then merge the scans into a single model.

A real tour to explore

The campus of Collège Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes.

Classrooms, sports complex, common areas and exteriors brought together in a single tour, with 41 information tags and a four-section menu. Open the menu and move from one pavilion to the next: this is how a campus is toured.

Which large sites do we scan?

How it works

From the first call to going live.

  1. 1

A call and a scan plan

Number of buildings, floor areas, floors, exteriors, access constraints. You receive a written quote within 24 hours.

  2. 2

    The scan, over several days

Building by building, with the Pro3, interior and exterior, during the day, in the evening or on Saturday morning depending on your activities.

  3. 3

The merge into a single model

The scans are assembled into a single tour; each building remains easy to find, with its floors and its floor plan view.

  4. 4

    Branding, tags and training

A menu per building if you wish, information tags, then the one-hour training session for your team.

Public pricing

The price of a large site.

Up to 10,500 sq. ft., the public price list applies. Beyond that, or for several buildings, you receive a written quote within 24 hours, based on the same price list and the scan plan.

Good to know about very large volumes

According to Matterport, the Pro3 has a range of 100 m for E57 and BIM files, but 20 m in the processed tour. In a very tall hangar or warehouse, the tour remains navigable; the precise technical survey of distant surfaces falls under 3D building scanning (E57 and BIM files). Schematic floor plans remain approximate and do not replace a certified measurement.

Campus and large building virtual tour: how we go about it

A large building or a campus is not scanned in a morning, but the principle remains that of a Matterport 3D virtual tour: the Pro3 camera is moved from position to position, indoors and outdoors, and each position is measured by laser. The difference lies in the planning. We divide the site into zones (a pavilion, a wing, a floor, the exteriors), scan each zone in turn, often in the evening or on Saturday morning, then bring the scans together.

3D scanning of several buildings, merged into a single model

The scans are merged into a single navigable twin: according to Matterport, up to 2,000 scan positions in a single model. Visitors enter through the reception, cross the courtyard, go up to the second floor of the neighbouring pavilion, and the floor plan view follows them from one building to the next. The tags from the original scans can be copied into the merged model, according to Matterport.

Exteriors, in full sun

The Pro3 captures outdoors, even in full sun, according to Matterport. Courtyards, parking lots, façades and covered walkways are therefore part of the tour and serve as links between the buildings. For the overall view of the site, aerial 360 drone views are added to the menu.

Updating a wing without rescanning the rest

A laboratory is renovated, a pavilion is added, a workshop changes purpose. Rather than redoing everything, we rescan the part that changed and merge it into the existing model. The affected tags are checked and, if the tour is branded, the menu is resynchronized.

A menu per building, in French and in English

On a large site, information has to be organized. With custom branding, each building or pavilion becomes a section of the menu, with its highlights and its tags, in French and in English at a single address. For internal teams, the tour can also serve as a digital twin: according to Matterport, a single tour can have up to 10 views, each with its own tags and its own access (maintenance, security, leasing).

Three large sites scanned by Panosphere 360

Collège Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. Classrooms, sports complex, common areas and exteriors in a single 41-tag tour, with a four-section menu in the college’s colours. See also our tours for schools, CEGEPs and universities.

Atelier 25, for the City of Candiac. The public works building: offices, workshops, truck garage and exteriors, 76 tags and three aerial views, for municipalities.

The Centre de gestion de l’équipement roulant (fleet management centre) in Laval. Garage, dome and steel structures scanned for the Quebec Ministry of Transport: an industrial and government site virtual tour. See also our tours for industry and energy.

When sites are far apart

If your buildings are in several cities (branches, facilities, rest areas), it is more of a multi-site portfolio: each site has its own tour, the trip is planned and the $0.73/km travel fee beyond about 100 km from Montreal is shared between the sites.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions, our answers.

Another question? Write to marc@panosphere360.com or call 514 262-9248.

Can several buildings be combined into a single virtual tour?

Yes. Each building is scanned separately, then the scans are merged into a single navigable model: according to Matterport, up to 2,000 scan positions. Visitors move from one building to the next without changing links.

Can the exterior of a campus be captured?

Yes. The Matterport Pro3 camera captures in full sun, according to Matterport: courtyards, parking lots, façades and walkways between the buildings are part of the tour and connect the pavilions.

Does everything need to be rescanned if a wing changes?

No. We rescan the renovated wing or the new pavilion, then merge that scan into the existing model. The rest of the site stays as it is.

How long does it take to scan a campus?

It depends on the floor area, the number of buildings and the access. We plan the scan over several days, often in the evening or on Saturday morning, and you receive the schedule with the quote. Publication follows: 24 to 48 hours after the scan in most cases, but a large building or a big project can take several days. For this type of project, start with a 30-minute video call: we scope the project and plan the capture together.

How much does a virtual tour of a large building cost?

Up to 10,500 sq. ft., the public price list applies: from $395 to $1,295 depending on floor area, 2D floor plan and one year of hosting included. Beyond that, or for several buildings, you receive a written quote within 24 hours.

Do the tags carry over when scans are merged?

Yes. According to Matterport, merging scans allows the tags from the original models to be copied. After a partial update, we check the affected tags and resynchronize the branding if there is one.

Can we have a menu per building?

Yes. With custom branding, each building or pavilion becomes a section of the menu, in French and in English, with its tags and highlights. See the example of Collège Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes.

Can access to certain parts of the site be restricted?

Yes. A tour can be password-protected and, according to Matterport, a single tour can have up to 10 views, each with its own tags and its own access: general public, maintenance, security.

Do you scan plants and industrial sites?

Yes: plants, warehouses, distribution centres, Hydro-Québec facilities, municipal garages. The scan is done without stopping production, following your safety instructions.
