3D equipment register

Every piece of equipment found in one click, with its sheet.

A 3D equipment register starts at $395 for the Matterport tour of a building under 1,500 sq. ft.; each tag (sheet, manual, warranty) is placed by our team at $90 per hour or imported from CSV by yours. Half a day of scanning covers about 10,000 sq. ft. without stopping your operations, anywhere in Quebec. Since 2015. Phone: 514 262-9248.

  • One tag per piece of equipment: sheet, manual, warranty
  • CSV import and export, according to Matterport
  • Updated by your team or ours
  • 2D floor plan and measurement tool included

They trust us

The equipment inventory right where the equipment is.

A conventional register is a list: a number, a room, a date. In the digital twin, the same sheet opens in front of the equipment, in the room where it sits, with the piping and clearances visible around it. The new technician finds it without a guide; the supplier sees it before travelling.

A real tour to explore

Gatineau’s drinking water plant, room by room.

Pumps, motors, piping, panels: the City of Gatineau’s drinking water treatment plant. Walk up to a pump, click on a tag, measure the clearance around it: this is what a maintenance team sees.

Who keeps an equipment register in 3D?

How it works

From the first call to going live.

  1. 1

    A 30-minute call

    Floor area, number of pieces of equipment, format of your list, date. Written quote.

  2. 2

    The scan with the Pro3

    Service rooms, mechanical rooms and accessible roofs, without interrupting your operations; in the evening if needed.

  3. 3

    Importing your list

    Online 24 to 48 hours later. We convert your list to Matterport’s CSV format, import the tags and place them in front of each piece of equipment.

  4. 4

    Validation and training

    Your team checks the sheets, then takes a one-hour training session to keep the register up to date itself.

What the 3D register does not replace

The register complements your CMMS, it does not replace it: it does not issue work orders and does not track meters. Sheets are updated by CSV import or by hand, not live from your sensors. Anything that was not scanned (a closed service void, an inaccessible roof) does not appear in the model.

An equipment register in the 3D tour: how it works

The 3D equipment register starts with a scan using the Matterport Pro3 camera: every mechanical room, electrical room, boiler room and accessible roof is photographed and measured with a laser, then assembled into a navigable 3D model, with the floor plan view and the measurement tool. This is the foundation of the building digital twin.

Each piece of equipment then receives an information tag (a “tag” in Matterport’s vocabulary), placed in front of it. The tag becomes the equipment sheet in the tour: your technician walks up to the pump, clicks, and reads the serial number, the warranty and the manual. The manager preparing a call for tenders sends the contractor a link that opens in front of the unit to be replaced.

What an equipment sheet can contain

A Matterport tag accepts text, photos, a video, a PDF document and links. In a building equipment inventory, it usually holds:

  • the name, model and serial number;
  • the installation date, supplier and warranty;
  • the manual or spec sheet as a PDF;
  • the shutdown or lockout procedure, as text or video;
  • a link to the matching record in your CMMS.

Labels also name the rooms; the search finds a word across all tags, and layers group them by system (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) to show only what interests you.

Importing your equipment list from a CSV file

You already have a list: a CMMS, a spreadsheet, a maintenance log. Rather than retyping each sheet, we export it to CSV, convert it to Matterport’s import format and create the tags in bulk; according to Matterport, the import is tested up to 1,000 tags per model. All that remains is to place each tag in front of its equipment, room by room. The same file serves as a template to add equipment later, or to re-import the register into a new scan.

Day-to-day asset management in 3D

The register serves maintenance first: find a piece of equipment, read its procedure, check its warranty before calling the supplier. It also serves those who do not know the building: the new technician, the contractor preparing a bid. Each one measures in the tour the clearance around the unit or the width of the door it will leave through, to within ±20 mm at 10 m with the Pro3, according to Matterport, without an appointment on site.

With Matterport’s views (up to 10 per tour, according to Matterport), the full register stays reserved for maintenance, while a lighter view serves for employee training or the emergency response plan. Access is controlled by password and unlisted links.

Who updates the register, and how

Two ways, often combined. Your team receives access to the Matterport editor ($150 per year) and a one-hour training session included: it corrects a sheet or tags a new unit the same day. Or our team takes care of it at $90 per hour.

When the building changes, you do not start over: according to Matterport, tags can be exported and re-imported into a new scan, and a renovated wing is rescanned on its own and merged into the existing model. Hosting is included for the first year, then from $150 per year.

Examples from Panosphere 360

The City of Gatineau’s drinking water treatment plant, shown above: pumps, motors, piping and panels scanned room by room, with information tags.

Atelier 25, for the City of Candiac: the public works building, with 76 tags spread across a six-section menu, a volume comparable to that of a register.

The same principle applies to industrial facilities, municipal buildings and health care facilities; the enhanced virtual tour uses the same tags for the public.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions, our answers.

Another question? Write to marc@panosphere360.com or call 514 262-9248.

What can be attached to a piece of equipment in the tour?

Text, photos, a video, a PDF and links: serial number, model, warranty, manual, procedure, or a link to the record in your CMMS. Each tag is placed in front of the equipment it describes.

Can we import our existing asset list?

Yes. Export your CMMS or your spreadsheet to CSV; we convert it to Matterport’s import format and create the tags in bulk, then place them in front of each piece of equipment. According to Matterport, the import is tested up to 1,000 tags.

What happens to the tags after a new scan?

They are exported to CSV and re-imported into the new version of the model, according to Matterport. When only one wing changes, we rescan it and merge it into the existing model.

How many pieces of equipment can be tagged?

As many as your register holds: the import is tested up to 1,000 tags per model, according to Matterport. Layers group the tags by system, and the search finds a number or a name.

Who can edit the register?

Your team, with access to the Matterport editor ($150 per year) and a one-hour training session included, or ours, at $90 per hour. Read access is controlled separately: password, unlisted links and views for each audience.

Does the 3D register replace our CMMS?

No. It complements it: the sheet opens in front of the equipment, in the tour, and can link back to your CMMS. Work orders, meters and alerts stay in your software.

How much does a 3D equipment register cost?

The 3D tour is billed by floor area, from $395 for under 1,500 sq. ft. up to $1,295 for 10,500 sq. ft.; beyond that, a quote within 24 hours. Tags are placed at $90 per hour by our team, or by yours with editor access at $150 per year.

Do you scan mechanical rooms and service rooms?

Yes, that is the heart of the register: boiler rooms, pump rooms, electrical rooms, accessible roofs. The scan follows your safety rules.
